Growing Forests That Last: A New Approach in Hawaiʻi You Can Support
Wednesday, February 25, 1 PM EST / 8 AM HST
Forest restoration is long-term work, measured in decades, not seasons. It requires ecological knowledge, the right technology, and continual care from native seed to self-sustaining forest.
In this webinar, we explore what makes forests last, what’s different about our approach in Hawaiʻi, and how individuals can support this work no matter where they are in the world.

What does it actually take to restore a forest?
Restoring a forest takes decades, from native seed collection to protecting trees until they can stand on their own. In Hawaiʻi, this work carries deep significance.
The islands’ native forests evolved over 70 million years in isolation, forming relationships between plants, birds, and watersheds found nowhere else. Today, 90% of Hawaiʻi’s native koa forests are gone, and what remains faces invasive species, disease, and climate stress.
This webinar takes you inside the work of lasting forest restoration—why Hawaiʻi is uniquely important, what it truly takes to restore biodiverse forests for the long term, and how you can support that work.
Why attend the event?

Learn what makes Hawaiʻi's forests irreplaceable
Hawaiʻi's native forests are living laboratories of evolution—90% of their species exist nowhere else on Earth. See how these ecosystems create their own rain, sustain island watersheds, and shelter cultural landscapes —and why their survival matters far beyond the Pacific.

See what real forest restoration actually looks like
Go behind the scenes at Terraformation's restoration work across Hawaiʻi Island—from seed collection in remote forests to nursery propagation to years of follow-up care. Understand why quick-fix tree planting fails, and what it takes to regenerate an entire ecosystem.

Understand why sustained commitment grows forests
Discover how a simple monthly subscription can support the full lifecycle of restoration—seed collection, propagation, planting, invasive species management, and long-term monitoring—proving that small, consistent actions can grow real forests over time.
